Named after the autumn crocus, Colchicum autumalis is what you will find it under in Hortus. A beautiful pink/mauve flower which is also known as Naked Lady. It blooms without leaves, you see, and sometimes is tortured into blooming in simply a dish of water or with nothing to draw sustenance from at all. However, the naked lady will extract her dreadful revenge as the bulb and all parts of the plant are so deadly poisonous that there is not antidote for it! The symptoms are those of arsenic poisoning but this is far worse. Saffron represents the crocus side of this lady, and vetiver represents the earthy yet unearthly sweet side of her nature. Very beautiful blend, more on the austere side and perfect for autumn. Dry and beautiful, the art is in the quality and proportion of these excellent ingredients.
