Nocturne Alchemy Pharaoh Moons Limited Edition Perfume Oil (Limited)

The beginning of all things begins with history. The Ancient Egyptians watched the stars and built the Pyramids aligned with the lights in the sky as a pathway toward Paradise when this life was over and the next was to evolve.

Pharaoh Mentuhotep (also known as Nebhetepre). Mentuhotep means 'Monto is content', Monto meaning Theban God of War. His name would change throughout his reign in adoptive meanings such as: 'He who gives heart to the Two Lands', 'Lord of the White Crown (Upper Egypt)' and finally, 'Uniter of the Two Lands'.

Pharaoh Mentuhotep came to reign during Dynasty 11 of the Middle Kingdom. He would reign unusually for fifty years (given the short life expectancy of the common Egyptian). His reign was between the years of 2060-2010 and his son, Mentuhotep II would follow another twelve years after.

Pharaoh Mentuhotep was a believer in unity thus creating his Temple in the same place Pharaoh Hatshepsut would later call her Mortuary Temple. Facing the beauty of the Sun and breathing in the life of the Nile and Upper and Lower Egypt. Within the great bay of cliffs at Deir el-Bahari south of the Saff tombs.

Mentuhotep Moon continues our Pharaoh Moons with a Moon perfume created under the full moon of San Francisco on November 10th, 2011. As Pharaoh Mentuhotep was associated with his allegiance to Egypt (both Upper and Lower), it was necessary to create a scent with a resin tone as well as a sweet scented nature surrounded by the resin of Egyptian Myrrh incense. A perfume of strength, unity and peace.

In our quest to create the next Moon scent of NA we searched through countless books on lunar phases and history; countless times did the subject matter return to the early astrology of the Ancients. For Mentuhotep Moon we wanted to find the allegiance of a great Pharaoh, Man and Warrior as well as the sweetness associated with vanilla resin Incense.

As the moon is an important influence to time and light, eclipse and the energy of the tides, it is also a dark place that is only lit by the sun at seven percent. The moon itself is a dark planet that reflects the sun to give us light in the evening thus a wonderful revelation for our eleventh Moon.

We choose the night for our inspiration because of the vulnerability of it. We choose the moon for the romantic notion it holds in our world. We choose the moon because of the connection we have inherent as the movement of the tides of the great oceans of the world connect to it. We are part of it and without it the romance of knowing sun and moon will never touch elements but they can share of themselves briefly every night at seven percent. They can lay upon each other during eclipses and sometimes they can separate the world and unite it at the same time simply by ruling the skies.

This is the Eleventh of the new Nocturne Alchemy 'Pharaoh Moons'.

Crystalline (Egyptian Vanilla) Resin, Amber Myrrh Incense, a drop of Egyptian Cedar, a hint of Egyptian Patchouli, a drop of the sweetest Egyptian Blue Lavender available, Neroli-Musk and a touch of refined and aged Egyptian Amber Resin is the ode to a Pharaoh and Egypt.
