Holly was lucky enough to experience Fair Day as a kid; students got a half-day of class and a ticket to the Puyallup Fair and were let loose to roister en masse. Pure late-summer joy. At first it was all about the rides* (they're in here), then in later years the barns with all the cows and goats and sheep (also in here), and every year the awesome grub that permeated the whole area: woodsmoke, barbecue, cotton candy, and the scones with raspberry jam that are the Puyallup Fair's specialty. Holly grew up thinking EVERY fair had scones. They don't-but this scent does! All of this happens in a haze of dry sneaker-pounded dirt and sawdust in the sun. 100% irony-free. This scent is about love.
*It was Holly's great pleasure and solemn duty to operate the Rotor ride for one glorious year. You know, the cylinder that spins fast and sticks you to the wall, then the floor drops out from under you? The one that people throw up on? That one. <3 Not one person ever threw up while she was driving it. She's still proud.
