Summer always makes me so nostalgic, all of my brightest childhood memories happen on a backdrop of twinkling dappled sunshine and warm fragrant air. On one of the rare nice days we've had, husband and I were reminiscing about first loves. He told me about his elementary school girlfriend, whose name is lost to him, but who would hold his hand and always smelled like sweet cocoa butter. Being a particularly big sap for those sorts of sensory triggers, I set out to match the scent. None of the products readily available were right, and somehow plain cocoa butter didn't do it either. Being a willful and impatient woman, I said screw it and set out to make my own version from scratch. As a result, Selma is actually a rich, grown-up cocoa butter musk. I added touches of honeysuckle, warm hay, woodsmoke, and honey to round it out into a lovely ladylike Southern summer scent (try saying that five time fast ;-).
