Possets Deep Winter (Valentines 2015) Limited Edition Perfume Oil (Limited)
In Edith Wharton's House of Mirth, the desperate Lily Barth makes a play for he previously discarded rich suitor. She has money trouble and no backing from what was left of her family. She invites poor Rosedale to tea to tell him that she will after all accept his proposal of marriage. Alas, Rosedale has lost his zest for the lady and has to inform her that the offer does not still stand. How mortifying. But Lily had worked so hard to set the trap: the most lovely jasmine tea, cream, and a sandalwood tray which was guaranteed to release the aroma of love. (If you have not read House of Mirth, please do. It is Wharton at her best.) Though her ploy was a failure, her fragrance was a complete success. Charming in a perfumy way, prim but faintly desperate.
