"Bring me the head of the Baptist!" One of the most famous lines in history. When beautiful young Salome danced the scandalous "dance of the 7 veils" (at the end of which we presume she was entirely naked and in some lewd posture. Her uncle, Herod the king, was so amused that he said he would give her anything she wished. Instead of asking for a heap of gold, or her own palace and chariot, she unwisely chose to ask for the head of John the Baptist on a silver plate.

Uncle Herod was said to be taken aback by his little niece's bloodthirsty request but a deal is a deal and the head of the luckless prophet was delivered as she wished. She is said to have kissed his lifeless lips over and over, which fuels the story that she was so savage about it because John, ever the acetic, had rebuffed her advances.

In order to own the head of your enemy by beguilement, you have to smell terrific. Salome did. This is all done with musks and resins: Black and African, myrrh, frankincense, cedar, ivory musk, green coffee pulp extract, and a very light light misting of black Mexican vanilla.

Resinous, musky, spicy, sexy as all get out.

Great image by Eder Gyula of a manic and gleeful Salome and her prize.
