You may not have heard of Jane Digby, but let me assure you that she was one of the most romantic women who every lived. Beginning her life as a prim wife of The 2nd Baron of Ellenborough, Jane had love affairs with her cousin and Felix (an Austrian Statesman) and was publicly divorced by the Baron which was a major scandal at that time and involved an act of Parliament. Was Jane daunted? No, of course not. She had two babies by the feckless Felix before he dumped her in Paris. But she went on to become the mistress of King Ludwig of Bavaria, had another baby by her husband of convenience (must have made a mistake there...I suppose it was dark). She then fell for a dashing Greek who fought a duel for her with her husband, left with the handsome Greek but then, in typical Jane style, she became the lover of King Otto of Greece!

Is that the end of Jane's wanderings? NO! She then takes up with an Albanian brigand who leads his band of fearless warriors on many missions. Jane rides by his side but dumps him when she finds out he was unfaithful to her (translation: she got tired of living in caves and washing out his undies in the streams).

At this point, Jane is about 45. This is the mid 1850's and she has had a lot of children, rode in the sun, traveled everywhere and not had a lick of plastic surgery that we know of. Dentistry? Well, it was primitive at best. You might think that she would be a wreck and no one would have her. Wrong. Jane finds and falls in love with and marries a Syrian sheik who keeps her amused and interested for the rest of her considerable life. She dies when she is well into her '70's after becoming the hostess of one of the liveliest salons in the world. Hoorah for Jane Digby!

What would her alluring perfume smell like? What could be the magic elixir which captured hearts even when the temptress was in her midlife in the 1800's? Heh! Her fragrance is rich with the sweet scents of Arabia, flowers of the Italian summer (the sweetest jasmine and rose from the Mediterranean Coast), and a goodly shot of Greek honey made of thyme blossoms. Never ever count a good woman out.
