Yeasty bread with a glossy top and a thick "X" of sugary icing, a generous helping of currents and European citron and that is a classic Hot Cross Bun. Smelling them baking is so heavenly that you can't believe they are Lenten fare, a form of abstaining from indulgences and indulging in self denial. Very pretty and just a perfume which makes me smile without realizing that is what I am doing.
