In Japan, Haru-no-higan is the seven-day festival of Shunbun-no-hi (vernal equinox) that celebrates the spirits of ancestors. The festival starts three days before the equinox (March 20 or 21) and ends three days after. On the middle day, celebrants visit the graves of and pay respects to their ancestors and loved ones who have passed on. It is a time of celebration and reflection, admiration of nature, and love for living things.
