Not a part of the original Robin Hood stories, Maid Marian was adapted into the Merry Men from various sources. During Victorian times she's the passive noblewoman and romantic interest of Robin Hood. In the 20th century she was depicted as a cross dressing tomboy who met Robin Hood in a fight that ended in a draw.
