The Black Angel is a cemetery monument dedicated to Ruth Ann Dodge of Council Bluffs, IA. Mrs. Dodge was very involved in spiritualism during her life and, shortly before her death; she had visions of being visited by an angel who offered her to drink “the waters of immortality”. Mrs. Dodge also said that the angel carried the scent of roses upon it. Mrs. Dodge passed away unexpectedly three days after the visit of the angel and is believed to life forever, having drunk the “waters of immortality”, traveling on other planes.
The scent of The Black Angel is blackened and deepened rose, ceremonial incense, embalming spices, and sanguine musk.
