The Hippoi Athanatoi were the immortal horses of the gods in the Greco-Roman era. They were the four winds, in horse form, who drew Zeus' chariot. Hippokampoi (in French, 'hippocampe' means seahorse) was one of the Hippoi Athanatoi who drew Poseidon's chariot under the sea. Pegasus was also an Hippoi Athanatoi. Helios, the sun god, also had several Hippoi Athanatoi under his command.
